Notable BIG10 Injuries - Week 9

Things to consider when walking to the window tomorrow.

Deontai Williams (Nebraska S) - Out vs Purdue

Williams has been Nebraska's best playmaker in the secondary having tallied 4 interceptions on the year and one of the top tacklers on the team. Williams injury is a tough blow to an already vulnerable Cornhusker passing D and it is also very untimely as they welcome the Boilermakers to town who will look to pass early and often. Purdue should look to test the middle of the field with both David Bell and Payton Durham.

Jack Tuttle (Indiana QB) - OUT @ Maryland

Tuttle was placed into the starting role following Michael Penix's injury vs Penn State. He filled in with a nice 1st Half vs Michigan State before showing his true colors and falling apart in the 2nd Half and the beginning of the OSU game. With Tuttle's injury, IU will trot out true freshmen, Donaven McCulley, who didn't look very good vs OSU - granted vs OSU in a night game during a rain storm is not an ideal time to lose your CFB virginity. He will face an easier opponent this week in Maryland but, to be honest, the outcome for the Hoosier offense with the form Scout Team QB will most likely not be much different from what we have seen thus far. Bad OL play, a non-existent running game and turnovers are all characteristics that will likely carry over against Maryland. Expect an ugly game - but I like the Terps at home in this one.

Chase Brown (Illinois RB) - WILL PLAY vs Rutgers

HC Bret Bielema confirmed that Chase Brown will be in the lineup after leaving last week's game with a head injury. Brown, and the Illinois running game as a whole, have really come on as of late having rushed for over 300+ yards vs Penn State last week. Converting those rushing yards into points will be a key for the Illini against a disappointing Rutgers team. The tandem of Brown and Joshua McCary should find success running on the Scarlet Knights. Rutgers' O has been terrible and face an Illinois D that is much better than the stats may lead on. I like Illinois to cover the small number.

Roman Wilson (Michigan WR) - WILL PLAY @ Michigan State

Wilson returns after being out/limited for Michigan's last couple of games. After Michigan lost WR Ronnie Bell for the season in the opener, Wilson became their most dynamic WR with the ball in his hands - he had a great game @ Wisconsin going for 6 rec and 81 yards. QB Cade McNamara will gladly be welcoming him back as his WRs have struggled to gain separation at times throughout the season. While Michigan relies heavily on their run game, I expect their passing game to play a critical factor in the outcome of this game. The Spartan's pass defense is one of the weaker ones in the conference and Michigan will have opportunities to execute and convert plays against their secondary - with the help of Wilson, I expect them to do just that and cover the number. BIG.
