Notable BIG10 Injuries - Week 7

Injury Updates to Monitor and Consider When Going to Window with Your Fun Coupons.

Michael Penix Jr. (Indiana QB) vs #10 Michigan State - DOUBTFUL
Starting quarterback, leader of IU's best season in a decade is unlikely to play. Bad for Indiana, right? Not so fast.

Penix has been inconsistent (some would say downright bad) in 2021. Constantly kills momentum, leads too many 3 and out drives and most importantly, turns the ball over so much (often directly leading to points). His poor play, short drives and short fields he leaves his team, puts what is an under-appreciated IU D into terrible positions. Their backup Tuttle was considered a good recruit coming out of HS. It’s not unreasonable to think that he can sustain drives better and avoid the big mistake. Coming off a very well timed bye week, IU has a solid overall game plan- give me the Hoosiers +4.5.

Christian Anderson (Army QB) vs Wisconsin - QUESTIONABLE
Yes, not a BIG10 injury but nonetheless, very important for wagering Wisconsin game. Army's triple option attack requires a QB that is confident, comfortable and has a shit ton of reps. Anderson is/has all of those things - his backup is/does NOT. Anderson was out when Army lost to Miami (OH) two weeks ago and the offense dearly missed him. If he is a no go, hammer the Badgers minus the points.

Riley Moss (Iowa CB) vs Purdue - OUT
A leader and playmaker in the elite Iowa secondary is out with knee injury. While Iowa has a number of talented and productive defensive backs, losing Moss and his experience/continuity he provides should factor into the outcome of game. Purdue will come out slinging the football and testing this Iowa secondary - frankly in a way they haven't been tested yet.

Payne Durham (Purdue TE) @ #2 Iowa - ACTIVE
Coming off a bye week, Purdue gets their All-BIG10 caliber TE back in the lineup. He is a safety blanket in the middle of the field, a redzone threat and a much needed option for Purdue's passing attack that is supported by productive WRs on the outside in Milton Wright and David Bell. Iowa coming off an emotional win, Purdue off a bye week...A Boilermaker D that should contain Iowa's O with a Passing Attack that will be unique to what Hawkeyes have seen so far. +11.5 is too many points, Purdue to cover.

Treyson Potts (Minnesota RB) vs Nebraska - OUT

Gophers already lost the best back in the BIG10 when Mo went down Week 1, now Potts, a very solid and productive back up is out. Next man up? How deep is this Minnesota RB room? How good is this Minny O-Line? Could Sleepy Joe run through their holes? Will the real Tanner Morgan please stand up? Questions will be answered in Minneapolis.
